Vice president Joe Biden seriously considered joining the 2016 race for president, but ultimately decided not to compete. Biden, 72, ran for president in 1988 and 2008, but watched from the sidelines as Hillary Clinton was the Democrat's annointed frontrunner for 2016. With some polls showing weakness in the former first lady's campaign, speculation grew that Biden will jump in. He made the announcement on October 21, 2015.
